4.5 GAUGE AND SENSORS

A. OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
The oil pressure switch is installed on the cylinder block
and leads to the oil passage of the lubricating oil. When
the oil pressure falls below the specified value, the con-
tacts of the oil pressure switch closes to turn on the
warning lamp.
B. COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The coolant temperature sensor consists of terminal,
thermostat, insulator. It is installed to the cylinder head
of engine, and its tip is in touch with the coolant Electri-
cal resistance of thermostat decreases as the tempera-
ture increase. Current varies with changes in the cool-
ant temperature, and the increase of decreases in the
current move the point of gauge.
C. FUEL SENDER (FUEL LEVEL GAUGE)
The fuel sender consists of float, variable resister,
thermostat which are installed in the fuel tank. As the float
lowers, the resistance of variable resister varies. Resis-
tance of the thermostat increases in the fuel and de-
creases in the air. When the fuel tank is empty, fuel
indicator of instrument panel lights up by current
increase.
