3.7 Summary of MESSAGE Command Parameters
The MESSAGE and ROUTE commands permit the user to inform the operator of special
conditions. The MESSAGE command displays user-defined text to the operator.

This parameter specifies a text message to be output to the operator dur-
ing input processing.
This parameter specifies a text message to be output to the operator dur-
ing job printing.
Definition(s)
NONE
Specifies that no text message is output to the oper-
ator during input processing.
The default is NONE.
sc
Specifies a text message of up to 80 characters.
passnum
Specifies the pass (copy ply) to which the message
text applies. The message is output to the operator
just before processing of the indicated pass (copy
ply) is begun. If no pass number is specified, the in-
dicated message is output at the beginning of the first
pass.

Specifies that no text message is output to the oper-
ator during job printing.
The default is NONE.
sc
Specifies a text message of up to 80 characters
(maximum of 400 characters per report).
passnum
Specifies the pass (copy ply) to which the text ap-
plies. Multiple sc messages, one per pass-num, may
be specified in a JSL. The message is output to the
operator prior to the beginning of printing the speci-
fied report ply. If no pass number is specified, the text
is output once at the beginning of printing the entire
report.
