3.9.1 Definitions in Xerox-/Océ printing
This paragraph defines a few terms from the point of view of a Xerox-printer or - lets say -
a Xerox-user. It is not intended, to redefine Xerox-terms here, on the contrary, it is the in-
tention to repeat here Xerox-terms to get a common understanding of definitions in Xerox-
/Océ printing.
Paper-edge
It is assumed, that a sheet moves through a Cut-sheet-printer with the long edge as the
leading edge and the short edge as the left edge. The opposite long edge is the trailing
edge, the opposite short edge is the right edge.
As the long edge is the edge, which moves as the first edge through the print-station, this
is commonly called a 'Long Edge Feed' or abbreviated LEF.
As the short edge is the edge, which moves as the first edge through the print-station, this
is commonly called a 'Short Edge Feed' or abbreviated SEF.
