6 Highlight Color Support

6.1 General

Color documents – process color and highlight color or custom tone – are becoming in-
creasingly more important.
Beginning with PRISMA+LCDS V2.02 the advantage of true color is available in its essen-
tials for the first time, even without support of the full LCDS command set. Step-by-step sup-
port of the LCDS command set in the LCDS-Module is described in the section "Stages of
implementation."

6.1.1 Definition of Terms

Highlight color, custom tone, business color, process color – these are terms used in differ-
ent ways to mean different things. The following definitions are intended to form a unified
basis of understanding:

The LCDS-Module makes no distinction between highlight color and custom tone, since the
LCDS command set supports both methods in the same way. For business color and pro-
cess color, however, no command set support is available in the LCDS-Module.
Color support should be seen in the context of what Océ Printing Systems as a whole has
to offer, since the system as a whole is the crucial factor in the utilization of color function-
ality.
