Determine which BCM50 units you need

This section helps you determine which BCM50 units you need for your system.

Determine which Main Unit you need

Each BCM50 system requires one Main Unit. There are three models of Main Unit available for
the BCM50 system: the BCM50, the BCM50a, and the BCM50e.
The Main Unit you choose depends on whether you need a router included in the Main Unit.

BCM50
The BCM50 Main Unit does not have an integrated router.
Choose the BCM50 if your network already has a router or if you do not require a router.
BCM50a
The BCM50a Main Unit has an integrated router and an ADSL modem.
Choose the BCM50a if you require a router and you are using a DSL line to connect to the Internet
or to a WAN.
BCM50e
The BCM50e Main Unit has an integrated router.
Choose the BCM50e if require a router and you already have a network edge device (such as an
ADSL modem or a cable modem).
