Introduction to the BCM50 hardware

The BCM50 is a modular telephone system that can expand as your telephony requirements grow.

BCM50 Main Units

The main hardware component in the BCM50 system is the Main Unit. The three types of Main
Units are:

• "BCM50a Main Unit" on page 48
A BCM50 Main Unit contains the following components:
• 1 programmed hard disk
• 1 cooling fan
• 1 router card (BCM50a and BCM50e only)

BCM50 Main Unit

The BCM50 Main Unit is used in customer networks where integrated data routing capability is
not required. The BCM50 Main Unit has the following ports and connectors (see
47):
• Power connector
A barrel connector jack used to connect the BCM50 power supply to the BCM50 Main Unit.
