Unpack the BCM50 Expansion Unit

Unpack the BCM50 Expansion Unit
Open the BCM50 Expansion Unit box and remove all of the components. Check that you have all
of the components listed below:
• one BCM50 Expansion Unit
• one BCM50 Expansion Unit power supply
• one power supply cable
• one expansion cable (ethernet cable)
• one power supply retention clip
• four rubber feet
• a BCM50 First Time Installation Guide
Visually inspect the components for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If you
find any damage, contact your Nortel Networks sales representative.

Unpack the media bay module

Open the media bay module (MBM) box and remove the MBM. Visually inspect the MBM for
any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If you find any damage, contact your Nortel
Networks sales representative.

Set the media bay module switches

Each media bay module (MBM) has a set of dip switches on the back or underside of the MBM
(see Figure 42 on page
