90 Determine if you require a BCM50 Expansion Unit
• If you require three analog lines and 21 PRI-compatible digital lines, you need one DTM
because a single DTM can handle 23 PRI-compatible digital lines and the Main Unit can
handle 4 analog lines.
Note: Although the DTM supports several types of digital lines, you cannot connect
different types of lines to the same DTM.

Add more extensions

The BCM50 Main Unit has connections for 4 analog telephony devices and 12 digital telephones.
The number and type of telephones and related equipment that is above what is available on the
Main Unit determines which station media bay modules (MBM) you require.
Note: If you are adding any extensions in the near future, include them in your
calculations.
1 In Table 17, record the number of each type of extension you need.
2 Subtract the number of analog extensions and digital extensions available on the telephony
connector of the BCM50 Main Unit.
Note: The four analog extensions are available only on BCM50 systems that are
installed in countries that use the North American telephony interface standards. Refer
to the Appendix,
3 Use the number of extensions and the number of extensions per MBM to determine how many
MBMs you need.
