408 Wheels and tyres
Only use an emergency spare wheel or

spare wheel briefly.

Do not deactivate ESP

Have the emergency spare wheel or
#
spare wheel of a different size replaced
at the nearest qualified specialist work‐
shop. The new wheel must have the
correct dimensions.

The emergency spare wheel is secured in the
emergency spare wheel bag in the boot.
Observe the following notes on fitting an emer‐
gency spare wheel:
Check the tyre pressure of the emergency
R
spare wheel fitted. Correct the pressure as
necessary.
The maximum permissible speed with an
R
emergency spare wheel fitted is 80 km/h.
Do not fit the emergency spare wheel with
R
snow chains.
Replace the emergency spare wheel after six
R
years at the latest, regardless of wear.
Use the wheel bolts that are included with
R
the emergency spare wheel.
Specified tightening torque: 130 Nm

Vehicles with a tyre pressure monitoring
system: if an emergency spare wheel is fit‐
ted, the tyre pressure monitoring system
cannot function reliably. For a few minutes
after an emergency spare wheel is fitted, the
system may still display the tyre pressure of
the removed wheel. Only restart the system
again when the emergency spare wheel has
been replaced with a new wheel.
