Information on vehicle sensors and cameras
Some driving and driving safety systems use
cameras as well as radar, lidar or ultrasonic sen‐
sors to monitor the area in front of, behind or
next to the vehicle.
% The radar and lidar sensors are integrated
behind the bumpers and/or behind the
Mercedes star.

& WARNING Risk of accident due to
restricted detection performance of vehi‐
cle sensors and cameras
If the area around vehicle sensors or cam‐
eras is covered, damaged or dirty, certain
driving and safety systems cannot function
correctly. There is a risk of an accident.
Keep the area around vehicle sensors

or cameras clear of any obstructions
and clean.
Have damage to the bumper, radiator

grille or stone chipping in the area of
the front and rear windows repaired at
a qualified specialist workshop.
Particularly, keep the areas around the sensors
and cameras free of dirt, ice or slush
( page 367). The sensors and cameras must

not be covered and the detection ranges around
them must be kept free. Do not attach additional
license plate brackets, advertisements, stickers,
foils or foils to protect against stone chippings in
the detection range of the sensors and cameras.
