Read prefetch
If a hard disk drive is installed at this location and if the
Local Bus IDE Mode setting is High Performance, you
can enable this option for maximum hard disk
performance. This option is not available for CD-ROM
drives.
Some operating systems, such as Windows NT and

OS/2, may require this option to be disabled.
Disk BIOS translation
With most operating systems, this option lets your
computer use IDE hard disks larger than 528 MB.
You can choose to have a hard disk use Logical Block
Addressing (LBA) format or Cylinder/Head/Sector (CHS)
format translation. You can also disable translation.
If you purchase a new hard disk and it supports LBA,
you should select the LBA format for that disk. You
should not select the LBA format option if the hard disk
you are using is formatted in CHS. Do not disable this
option unless you install an older hard disk that is larger
than 528 MB and you have problems booting or reading
files from it.
Changing input/output port
configuration
From the Setup Utility Main Menu, select the
Input/Output Ports option to view or change port
configuration settings. The Input/Output Ports menu
appears. This menu lets you configure serial and parallel
ports. It also displays whether a mouse is installed and
lets you configure specific keyboard settings.

Serial port A

This option displays the current address for the serial
port on your system board. Your computer comes with
one serial port on the system board.
If you install an adapter card with a serial port, an error
message will notify you if you have an address conflict
among the serial ports. Use this menu to make sure that
each serial port has a different address. If you change
serial port addresses in this menu, you might also need
to make changes in all software that uses serial port A.

Universal serial bus port

This option lets you enable or disable the universal
serial bus (USB) port on your system board. If you do
not have a USB device plugged into either of the
connectors for the USB port, disable the port to release
