Wake Up on Ring

The Wake Up on Ring feature turns on your computer
when the telephone rings. With this feature, you can
receive phone calls, messages, faxes, and data at any
time without leaving your computer on.
If you need to receive critical phone calls or faxes, you
may want to leave your computer in Standby instead of
suspending your computer or using Automatic Power
Off. Some people might not stay on the line long
enough for your computer to answer the call with Wake
Up on Ring. In addition, when some fax machines
attempt to send a fax, they hang up after a limited
number of rings. Though many of the newer fax
machines and fax computer programs will redial if your
computer does not answer quickly enough the first time,
you may not want to rely on that possibility.
With Wake Up on Ring, your computer may turn on
automatically when you dial out on a rotary or pulse
telephone. If this occurs, disable the Wake Up on Ring
feature and use it only when you know you will have
incoming fax communications.
To enable or disable the Wake Up on Ring feature, follow
these steps:
1.
Double-click on the Wake Up on Ring icon in the
Rapid Resume Manager window.
2.
In the Wake Up on Ring window, follow the
instructions on the screen. If you need help,
press F1.

Ring Indicator

The Ring Indicator feature works with the Automatic
Power Off feature. If both features are enabled, then the
system power light flashes after your computer turns on
to answer a telephone ring and then turns off again.
To enable or disable the Ring Indicator feature, follow
these steps:
1.
Double-click on the Wake Up on Ring icon in the
Rapid Resume Manager window.
2.
In the Wake Up on Ring window, enable the Wake
Up on Ring feature.
3.
Click on the Ring Indicator option under the
Options menu.
You can enable the Ring Indicator feature only after
you enable the Wake Up on Ring feature. If you
need help, press F1.
