Determines how the modem returns from online command mode to data mode:

Exits online command mode and returns to data mode.
n=1
Issues a retrain before returning to online data mode.
n=3
Issues a rate renegotiation before returning to online data mode.

Selects pulse dialing.

Determines whether the modem sends return codes to your monitor:
n=0
Return codes sent.
n=1
Return codes not sent.
T
Selects tone dialing.
Vn
Determines whether return codes sent to the monitor are formatted as numbers or text:
n=0
Return codes are sent as numbers.
n=1
Return codes are sent as text.
Wn
Determines the transmission functions reported in the CONNECT return code:
n=0
The CONNECT return code reports DTE speed.
n=1
The CONNECT return code reports DTE speed, enable carrier, compression, and protocol extended return code.
n=2
The CONNECT return code reports DCE speed.
Xn
Sets the type of return code sent:
n=0
Extended return codes are disabled. Only basic return codes, such as OK, CONNECT, RING, NO CARRIER, and
ERROR, are displayed.
Dial tone detection is disabled. The modem dials regardless of whether a dial tone is detected.
Busy tone detection is disabled. The modem ignores any busy tones it receives.
n=1
Extended return codes are enabled. Basic return codes, the connect message, and the modem's data rate are
displayed. Operation of the modem's error correction and data compression are also indicated.
Dial tone detection is disabled. The modem dials regardless of whether a dial tone is detected.
Busy tone detection is disabled. The modem ignores any busy tones it receives.
