I/O port resources
Select this option to open the I/O Port Resources menu,
where you can allocate input/output ports for the
adapter card. This menu lists the hexadecimal addresses
of the available I/O ports. You allocate I/O Ports to an
adapter card by selecting the Not Available setting for a
particular hexadecimal address.
Be sure to read the documentation that came with your
new adapter card. You may need to make changes to the
card to accommodate the selections you make for I/O
Port Resources. For example, you may have to move
jumpers or switches on the adapter card, or make
changes to the software that came with the adapter
card.
DMA resources
Select this option to open the DMA Resources menu,
where you can allocate direct memory access (DMA)
channels for the adapter card. This menu lists the
channel assignments for DMA. DMA allows I/O devices
to transfer data to and from memory. You allocate DMA
channels to an adapter card by selecting the Not
Available setting for a particular channel.

Interrupt resources
Select this option to open the Interrupt Resources menu,
where you can allocate interrupt requests (IRQs) for the
adapter card. This menu lists the system IRQs and their
functions. You allocate IRQs to an adapter card by
selecting the Not Available setting for a particular IRQ.

new adapter card. You may need to make changes to the
card to accommodate the selections you make for
Interrupt Resources. For example, you may have to
move jumpers or switches on the adapter card, or make
changes to software that uses the adapter card.

Configuring startup options

From the Setup Utility Main Menu, select the Startup
Options option to view or change startup configuration
settings. The Startup Options menu appears. This menu
identifies the startup devices and provides options for
enabling and disabling the system memory test and
virus detection.

Startup devices (first - fourth)

When you turn your computer on, it searches for the
operating system files. Your computer can search for
these files on a hard disk, a CD-ROM, a diskette, an
adapter card, or a network. The Startup Devices options
let you specify the order in which the computer searches
devices for the operating system files.
