1. Periodically use the IBM Update Connector to look for updates for the software that came from the factory with your
computer. For information about the IBM Update Connector, see "Where to find more information" on page 6.
2. If any of these problems continue after taking the actions listed, see your online Aptiva Helper for information on running

Chapter 8: Diagnosing and recovering from problems
Here's what to do:
4. If the computer does not automatically turn off, make sure the Automatic
Power Off option is enabled in the Rapid Resume Manager or on the Rapid
Resume menu of the Setup Utility. For instructions on working in the Rapid
Resume Manager, see "Chapter 3: Understanding the Rapid Resume
features" on page 21. For instructions on configuring Rapid Resume
features in the Setup Utility, see "Changing Rapid Resume features
configuration" on page 39.
5. Start the Setup Utility and make sure the devices you want checked to
determine whether you are using your computer are set up for activity
checking. For information about these Setup Utility checking options, see
"Rapid Resume advanced options" on page 43. If you want your modem
checked for activity, make sure it is set up to use IRQ 10. See "Check
modem activity (IRQ 10)" on page 45 for more information about your
modem and IRQ 10.
6. Try disabling AutoPlay or BIOS checking of the hard disk and CD-ROM
drives. When both drive checking and AutoPlay are enabled, Rapid
Resume may detect activity in the CD-ROM drive and keep the computer
from going into Standby and Automatic Power Off. For information about
hard disk and CD-ROM checking, see "Rapid Resume advanced options"
on page 43.
