Note
Shutdown time
If Temp-S responds, and its response threshold is not undershot again in the meantime, then
the drive system must shut down (de-energize) the motor within 2 seconds. This prevents
the motor windings from becoming inadmissibly hot.
NOTICE
Motor destroyed as a result of overtemperature
The motor can be destroyed if the motor winding overheats.
• Connect Temp-S.
• Evaluate Temp-S.
• Ensure that the shutdown time is not exceeded.
Note
No temperature monitoring with Temp-S
As a result of their non-linear characteristic, PTC temperature sensors are not suitable for
determining the instantaneous temperature.
Temp-F
The Temp-F temperature monitoring circuit comprises an individual temperature sensor.
Contrary to Temp-S, this temperature sensor only monitors one phase winding. As a
consequence, Temp-F is only used for monitoring the temperature and diagnosing the motor
winding temperature.
NOTICE
Motor destroyed as a result of overtemperature
If you use Temp-F for thermal motor protection, then the motor is not adequately protected
against destruction as a result of overtemperature.
• Evaluate the Temp-S temperature monitoring circuit to implement thermal motor
86
protection.
