Front Wheel
FRONT
W H E E L
The f r o n t wheel
a s
fitted t o all models requires very l i t t l e maintenance beyond
re-packing t h e hub w i t h grease every 10,000 miles (15.000 kms.). The wheel bearings
are of t h e ball bearing type and therefore require n o adjustment. The r i m is 19" i n
diameter (WM2-19) fitted w i t h 3.25
: :
19" tyre, and t h e h u b consists of t w o parts,
the hub itself and the brake drum.
It
should be noted that t h e spokes have specially
angled heads, ensuring sturdy wheel construction.
Four separate head shapes are
used and replacements should be the same as the originals. The brakes are internally
expand~ng t o

7"(17.78 cms.) brake d r u m (Model ST, 6T
&
TRS) and an 8"(20.32crns.)
brake d r u m (TlGO and T110) and are ]mounted o n an aluminium alloy (DTD.424)
anchor plate
as a
complete unlt.
R E M O V I N G T H E F R O N T W H E E L F R O M T H E F O R K S

Remove the split pin from t h e pivot pin connecting the brake
operating lever and the cable.
W i t h d r a w the pivot pin.
A n c h o r P l a t e B o l t .
Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt connecting the anchor
plate t o the f o r k leg.
S p i n d l e N u t .
Remove from the spindle.
F r o n t S t a n d .
Lower the front stand by loosening the retaining n u t at the rear of
the mudguard and pivot the stand downwards.
Spindle. Slacken rhe spindle pinch b o l t on the left hand f o r k and drive the spindle
out, when the wheel can be withdrawn from the forks. D o not damage the spindle
threads.

Hold the operating lever towards t h e
"ON"
position so
that t h e brake shoes do not bind o n the d r u m and lift the anchor plate from the
brake drum.
B e a r i n g R e t a i n i n g R i n g N u t .
The ring n u t has a left hand thread.
Remove by
turning i n a clockwise direction.
S p i n d l e S l e e v e a n d C o l l a r . D r i v e the sleeve and collar o u t from the brake d r u m
side.

L.H.
Drive t h e bearing o u t complete w i t h dust cover, using a
4"
(9.5 mrn.) diameter bar inserted through the brake d r u m side bearing.
Remove
the bearing distance piece.
