Gear, Oil Seal a n d M a i n s h a f t Bearing.
Remove the t w o long casing t o
o u t e r cover studs and the t w o dowels, casing t o inner cover and press t h e high gear
o u t and i n t o the casing.
Ease the o i l seal f r o m t h e housing and discard.

Remove t h e bearing retaining circlip and press t h e bearing out o f t h e housing.
Check t h e gear for chipped o r w o r n teeth and t h e shaft bearing for wear. Thoroughly
clean and degrease the journal bearing and d r y w i t h pressure air. Check f o r rough-
ness, pitting, indentation and float; make sure that t h e mainshaft high gear is a good
fit
i n t h e inner race.
W h e n replacing, first warm t h e casing and then press the
bearing i n t o the hous~ng, securing it w i t h a circlip.
Lubricate w i t h o i l when i n
p o s i t ~ o n . Press a new
011
seal i n t o t h e ball race housing w i t h the part number o n
the outside and the leather "rolling" towards the inside o f the case.
Insert t h e
high gear f r o m inside the housing, through the bearing and press it fuliy:home.
R e p l a c i n g t h e C h a i n S p r o c k e t
and
Nut. Support t h e high gear from inside t h e
casing and press the sprocket o n t o t h e high gear splines.
Secure the casing i n t h e
vice and w i t h a block between t h e sprocket teeth and t h e vice, tighten the locknut
t o t h e sprocket.
