LUBRICATE THROTTLE CABLE TO ENSURE SMOOTH AND POSITIVE
THROTTLE OPERATION.
5. Plastic Cap. Do not forget to fit the washer,
as
the spindle can foul the cap
before full lift occurs, resulcing in restricted power. Always use the correct part,
a
car
type (with
a
hole in) will N O T do.
6. Piston Spring. Do not mutilate the spring by stretching, otherwise the
performance and fuel consumption of the motorcycle will be adversely affected.
If in doubt regarding the spring pressure a new one of the correct type should be
fitted.
Make sure that the ignition control i s working properly, that the timing
i s
correct
and, in particular, that
it
i s
not over advanced-especially
a t
idling.
AIR FILTER
THE AIR FILTER SHOULD NOT BE DISCONNECTED I N A N ATTEMPT TO
INCREASE THE MAXIMUM SPEED OF THE MACHINE. THE CARBURETTER
AND AIR FILTER ARE DESIGNED TO GIVE MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY AND, I N
FACT, THE REMOVAL OF THE FILTER WlLL IMPAIR GENERAL PERFORMANCE
AS THE CARBURETTER I S EXPOSED TO ROAD DUST AND OTHER FOREIGN
MATTER. IF THE AIR FILTER I S NOT CONNECTED THERE IS A LIKELIHOOD
THAT THE FREEDOM OF THE PISTON IN THE SUCTION CHAMBER WlLL BE
RESTRICTED. ITS FREE MOVEMENT IS VITAL T O THE SATISFACTORY
OPERATION O F T H E CARBURETTER, OF THE ENGINE A N D , THERE-
FORE, OF THE WHOLE MOTORCYCLE.
