Cap N u t Tighten t h e cap nuts

Fork
C r o w n P i n c h Bolt.
Tighten t h e bolts.

Handlebars.
F i t t h e handlebars t o t h e t o p l u g and connect all levers and cables.
H e a d l a m p . F i t t h e headlamp t o t h e forks and connect t h e lighting plug.

S p e e d o m e t e r .
Re-fit speedometer and cable.

S t e e r i n g D a m p e r .
Re-fit the steering damper k n o b making sure that t h e steel
I
thrust washer is i n position.
M u d g u a r d .
Replace t o t h e f o r k and secure all fastenings.

W h e e l .
Replace as described.
C H A N G I N G T H E MAIN S P R I N G S

In order t o change t h e main springs,
or
t o f i t stronger ones f o r sidecar purposes, t h e

operator should remove t h e headlamp and nacelle t o p cover as described on page 177
and t h e handlebars as described o n page 99 dnd proceed as follows

C a p N u t s .
Unscrew t h e t w o cap nuts i n t h e t o p lug.
I

Spring.
G r i p t h e spring which should n o w be showing, and force it down u n t i l
the restrictor r o d can be gripped w i t h a pair o f pliers.
I
R e s t r i c t o r Rod. Unscrew t h e cap nuts f r o m t h e restrictor r o d and secure a piece
of soft w i r e t o t h e r o d before releasing t h e spring. This enables t h e 3perator
t o
retain control o f t h e restrictor r o d during removal and replacement of the spring.
Repeat t h e operation o n the other f o r k leg and re-assemble t h e forks i n exactly t h e
reverse procedure.
The f o r k springs have a colour identification as follows :-
