nection, o r s h o r t circuit i n t h e wiring of t h e horn.
In part~cular, ascertain that the
h o r n push bracket is i n good electrical contact w i t h the handlebars.
It
is also possible t h a t t h e performance of a h o r n may be upset by

Accurate adjuscmenc requires the use of a 0-10 amp.

Operate t h e h o r n push and t u r n the adjustment screw anti-clockwise until the

Release the h o r n push and t u r n the adjustment screw

should be restored.
If further adjustment

If the original performance cannot be restored by adjustment do not attempt
t o dismantle t h e horn; b u t return
it

SPARKING PLUGS
The sparking plug
i s
of great importance i n satisfactory engine performance and every
care should be taken ro tic the correct type when replacements are necessary.
There i s l i t t l e t o be gained by experimenting w i t h different types of plugs as the type
fitted
to
standard equipment, are best suited t o your particular engine.
!See
Technical Data f o r y o u r Machine).
Sparking plugs required for racing purposes are
much "harder" and advice on such matters should be obtained from the manufacturers.
The correcr gap setting of the sparking plug i s .018" (0.45 mm.) (Magneto Ignition)
and 0.020" (0.50 mm.) (Coil ignition). D o n o t guess this distance b u t use a feeler
gauge which can be supplied by the plug manufacturer
a t a
very reasonable cost.
W h e n re-setting, bend the side electrode only.
Never bend the centre electrode
as this may split t h e insulator tip.
The TR5 and T I 0 0 are fitted w i t h long reach plugs which are screwed directly i n t o
t h e alloy cylinder head.
If either plug indicates tightness when removing, pour
a
l i t t l e penetrating o i l around the base of the plug and allow it t o seep around the
threads.
By doing this the plug w i l l be more easily removed and the cylinder head
plug threads w i l l n o t be damaged.
Smear the threads w i t h graphite grease before
replaclng.
