5. Place a small piece of rolled rag or a piece
of lead between the primary gears. This will
hold the balancer drive gear so you can
tighten the securing nuts. Torque the secur-
ing nuts to specification. Bend a lock tab
against a nut flat.
Tightening torque:
Balancer drive gear nut:
100 Nm (10.8m-kg, 72ft-lb)
Balancer driven gear nut:
60 Nm (6m-kg, 43 ft-lb)
1. Box wrench (Special tool)
6. Install the woodruff key into the crankshaft
keyway.
7. Install the starter idle gear #2 in the starter
clutch attached to the flywheel.
NOTE:
To install the starter idle gear #2 in the starter
clutch, first place the idle gear on the starter clutch
and turn it counterclockwise slowly so it moves into
the starter clutch.

8. Install the flywheel assembly with the starter
idle gear #2 onto the crankshaft. The key in
the crankshaft should engage the keyway in
the flywheel.

9. Install the washer and the flywheel securing
bolt onto the crankshaft. Place a small piece
of rolled rag or a piece of lead between the
primary gears. This will hold the flywheel so
you can tighten the securing bolt. Torque
the flywheel securing bolt to specification.
Tightening torque:
80 Nm (8 m-kg, 58ft-lb)
Starter motor and starter idler gear #1
1. Install the starter motor. Grease the 0-ring
and insert the starter into the crankcase.
NOTE:
Be careful not to damage the O-ring during installa-
tion.
