Rear-cylinder chain guide and drive gears

1. Install the front cam chain guide to the left
side crankcase. Torque the bolt to specifica-
tion.
Tightening torque:
8Nm (0.8 m-kg, 5.8ft-lb)
2. Mount the cam chain drive gear (28T) on
the left side of the crankshaft. By rotating
the gear by hand, align the keyways in the
crankshaft and gear, and fit the key into the
key ways.

3. By turning the crankshaft by hand, bring the
key position with the center of the rear cyl-
inder bore.
4. Attach a proper length of wire to the cam
chain, and place the cam chain around
the timing-gear sprocket (#2).
5. Lower the timing gear into the cam chain
journal.
6. Insert an appropriately sized punch into the
gear-alignment hole on the timing gear.
Apply a prying motion
rotate the gears until both sets of teeth on
the timing gear align with one another.
7. Further lower the timing gear until it en-
gages the cam chain drive gear on the
crankshaft. Make sure the punch mark on
the timing gear aligns with the key position
on the crankshaft.

8. Install the timing gear shaft with the oil de-
livery pipe, and secure the shaft and pipe in
place with the stopper plate. Bolt the stop-
per plate to the crankcase. Use new copper
washers, and torque the stopper bolt and
union bolt to specification.
