Problems with the rear window heating
Problem
The rear window heating
has switched off prema-
turely or cannot be acti-
vated.
Activating/deactivating air-recircula-
tion mode
General notes
You can temporarily deactivate the intake of
fresh air if unpleasant odours enter the vehicle
from outside or if you are driving in a tunnel. Only
the air inside the vehicle will then be circulated.
When you activate air-recirculation mode, the
windows could mist up more quickly, in partic-
ular at low outside temperatures. To avoid the
windows misting up, switch on air-recirculation
mode briefly.
When you switch off the engine, air-recirculation
mode also switches off.

Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions
The battery has not been sufficiently charged.

Switch off any consumers that are not required, e.g. reading lamps,
interior lighting or seat heating.
When the battery is sufficiently charged, the rear window heating
can be activated again.
Adjusting the air vents
Important safety notes

WARNING
Very hot or very cold air can flow from the air
vents. This could result in burns or frostbite in
the immediate vicinity of the air vents. There
is a risk of injury.
Make sure that all vehicle occupants always
maintain a sufficient distance to the air out-
lets. If necessary, redirect the airflow to
another area of the vehicle interior.

WARNING
If you pour cleaning fluid or disinfectant into
the vehicle's ventilation system, it may ignite.
There is a risk of fire.
Never spray these or other agents into the
ventilation system. Always have work on the
ventilation system carried out at a qualified
specialist workshop.
In order to ensure the direct flow of fresh air
through the air vents into the vehicle interior,
please observe the following notes:
keep the air inlet between the windscreen and

the bonnet free of blockages, such as ice,
snow or leaves.
never cover the vents or the ventilation grilles

in the vehicle interior.

For optimum climate control in the vehicle,
open the air vents fully.
