Decoupling a trailer
Important safety notes

WARNING
If you uncouple a trailer with an engaged over-
run brake, you could trap your hand between
the vehicle and the trailer drawbar. This poses
a risk of injury.
Do not uncouple a trailer with an engaged
overrun brake.

Do not disconnect a trailer with an engaged
overrun brake. Otherwise, your vehicle could
be damaged by the rebounding of the overrun
brake.

Engage first gear.

Apply the parking brake.
X
Secure the trailer against rolling away.
X
Remove the trailer cable and decouple the
trailer.
Removing the ball coupling

WARNING
If objects, luggage or loads are not secured or
not secured sufficiently, they could slip, tip
over or be flung around and thereby hit vehicle
occupants. There is a risk of injury, especially
when braking or abruptly changing directions.
Always store objects so that they cannot be
flung around. Secure objects, luggage or
loads against slipping or tipping before the
journey.

Remove key A for lock B from the glove
compartment.

Use key A to unlock lock B.

Remove lock B from locking pin ;.

Pull locking pin ; to the right out of ball cou-
pling recess :.

Pull ball coupling ? out of ball coupling
recess :.

Place ball head cover = over ball cou-
pling ?.

Clean the ball coupling if it is dirty

Stow the ball coupling and lock with the key
inserted in the glove compartment.
Adjusting the height of the trailer cou-
pling

WARNING
If the ball coupling is not fitted correctly and
the bolts supplied are not tightened to the
specified tightening torque, the trailer could
come loose. There is a risk of an accident.
Always fit the ball coupling as described.
Observe the specified tightening torque when
fitting the coupling.
