The reversing aid is automatically activated
when you turn the key to position 2 in the
ignition lock.
Trailer towing
The reversing aid must be deactivated if you are
towing a trailer.
Remove a detachable trailer coupling if it is no
longer required. The reversing aid measures the
minimum detection range to an obstacle from
the bumper, not from the ball coupling.

Example: reversing camera
The reversing camera : is a visual parking and
manoeuvring aid. In the rear-view mirror display
it shows you the area behind the vehicle with
guide lines .
The area behind the vehicle is displayed in a
mirrored fashion, as in the rear-view mirror.
Important safety notes
The reversing camera is only an aid. It cannot
replace your own awareness of the immediate
surroundings. You are responsible for safe
manoeuvring and parking. When manoeuvring
and parking, make sure that there are no per-
sons, animals or objects in the manoeuvring
area.
Under the following circumstances, the revers-
ing camera will not function, or will function in a
limited manner:
if the tailgate is open or the rear doors are
R
open
if it is raining hard, snowing or foggy
R
at night or in very dark places
R
if the camera is exposed to very bright light.
R
if the area is lit by fluorescent light or LED
R
lighting (the display may flicker)
if the temperature changes very quickly, for
R
example if you drive into a heated garage in
the winter
if the camera lens is dirty or obstructed.

if the rear of the vehicle is damaged. In this

case, have the camera position and setting
checked at a qualified specialist workshop.
The field of vision and other functions of the
reversing camera may be restricted due to addi-
tional accessories on the rear of the vehicle (e.g.
licence plate holder, bicycle rack).
Switching the reversing camera on or off

To switch on: make sure that the key is in
position 2 in the ignition lock.

Engage reverse gear.
The area behind the vehicle is shown with
guide lines in the rear-view mirror display.
The image from the reversing camera is
shown during the entire manoeuvring proce-
dure.

To switch off: drive forwards slightly.

Turn the key to position 1 in the ignition lock.
Displays in the rear-view mirror display
The reversing camera may show a distorted view
of obstacles, show them incorrectly or not at all.
Obstacles are not shown by the system in the
following locations:
very close to the rear bumper
R
under the rear bumper
R
in the area immediately above the handle
R
recess of the tailgate or rear doors
Objects not at ground level may appear to
!
be further away than they actually are, e.g.:
the bumper of a parked vehicle
R
the drawbar of a trailer
R
the ball coupling of a trailer tow hitch
R
the rear section of an HGV
R
a slanted post
R
Use the guidelines only for orientation.
Approach objects no further than the bottom-
most guideline.
