correct the tyre pressure if it is too low for the
current operating conditions.
Driving with tyre pressure that is too high or too
low can:
shorten the service life of the tyres

cause increased tyre damage

have a negative effect on handling character-

istics and thus the driving safety (e.g. aqua-
planing)

Wireless tyre pressure monitor

Important safety notes
In vehicles with a wireless tyre pressure moni-
tor, the vehicle's wheels have sensors fitted
which monitor the tyre pressure in all four tyres.
The tyre pressure monitor warns you if the pres-
sure drops in one or more of the tyres.
The tyre pressure monitor only functions if the
corresponding sensors are fitted to all the
wheels.
The tyre pressure monitor is an additional aid for
the driver. It is by no means a substitute for the
awareness and responsibility of the driver.
Check the pressure of all the tyres including the
spare wheel every month.
The tyre pressure monitor needs several
minutes of driving time before it is functional.
Check the tyre pressure of the new tyres imme-
diately after every wheel change.
The tyre pressure monitor only functions with
special equipment, e.g. with pressure sensors
on the tyre valve.
If you use wheels or tyres which have not been
approved by Mercedes-Benz, the tyre pressure
monitor could malfunction. Ask a Mercedes-
Benz Service Centre which wheels/tyres you
can use.
The spare wheel does not have a tyre pressure
sensor. If you have just fitted a spare wheel, the

To prevent damage to the sensors in the wheels,
only use tyre sealant which has been approved
by Mercedes-Benz.
It is the driver's responsibility to set the tyre
pressure to the recommended cold tyre pres-
sure suitable for the operating conditions.

Note that the correct tyre pressure for the cur-
rent operating conditions must first be program-
med into the tyre pressure monitor. If there is a
substantial loss of pressure, the warning thresh-

reference values programmed in.
Restart the tyre pressure monitor after adjust-
ing the cold tyre pressure . The current tyre
pressures are saved as new reference values.
This will ensure that a warning message will only
appear if the tyre pressure drops significantly.
The tyre pressure monitor is not able to warn
you of a sudden loss of pressure, e.g. following
penetration by a foreign object. In this event,
brake the vehicle until it comes to a standstill.
Do not carry out any sudden steering manoeu-
vres.
The functionality of the wireless tyre pressure
monitor is restricted or delayed if snow chains
are fitted to your vehicle.
Warning signals of the wireless tyre
pressure monitor
The h warning lamp in the instrument cluster
indicates a malfunction.
If the h warning lamp is lit continuously,

tyre pressure on one or more tyres is signifi-
cantly too low or the tyres are flat. Stop the
vehicle, paying attention to road and traffic
conditions, and check the tyres (

malfunctioning.
If the h warning lamp flashes for approx-

imately one minute and then remains lit con-
stantly, the tyre pressure monitor is malfunc-
tioning, or one or more tyres have been fitted
without a pressure sensor. At the same time,
¯ is displayed. Check whether wheels
with suitable sensors have been fitted, or con-
sult a qualified specialist workshop.
