Troubleshooting the NV3W-V1, NV4W or NV3Q
Error
• Nothing is displayed
There is an error in the system.
(and the above power
supply and replace-
ment setting problems
do not exist).
• The screen display is
not correct (and the
above message and
date/time problems do
not exist), excluding
error codes.
• Switches do not work
(and the above grid
and enable setting
problems do not
exist).
• The buzzer does not
turn OFF.
The power supply to the PT was turned OFF
while updating the firmware.
Operation Security (Passwords) (NV3W-V1, NV4W and NV3Q Only)
Message
"Incorrect password" was dis-
played on the Login Screen.
"Incorrect password" was dis-
played on the Password
Change Screen.
"Please verify your password
again" was displayed on the
Password Change Screen.
"Use another password" was
displayed on the Password

"Password setting incomplete"
was displayed in the Password
Change Screen.
"Your password cannot be

Cause
Cause
The password that was entered is not regis-
tered.
An incorrect password was entered for the
current password.
The new password and retyped password
are not the same.
An attempt was made to register a pass-
word that was already registered.
An item has not been set.
You tried to delete your own password.
You tried to change your own level.
Refer to the NV-series PT Programming Manual (Cat. No. V104).
Countermeasure
1. Check the controlled system to be sure it is
safe to do so, and then cycle the power sup-
ply. The CPU in the PT will be reset.
2. If the problem is not fixed by performing the
countermeasure given above, initialize the
built-in Flash Memory from the System Menu
and then transfer the data to the PT again
from the NV-Designer.
Note When memory is initialized, all base
screen data, PT setting data, and key-
board screen data will be lost. Be sure to
backup this data in advance.
3. If the problem is not fixed by performing the
countermeasures given above, turn ON pins
2, 3, and 4 on the DIP switch on the back of
the PT and cycle the power. After the PT has
been reset, return the DIP switch to the pre-
vious settings and cycle the power again.
Note This operation will return the PT to the
default settings and clear the memory in
the PT. Be sure to back up any required
data in advance.
If normal operation is not recovered after per-
forming the above three countermeasures, con-
tact your OMRON representative.
Countermeasure
Enter the correct password.
Enter the correct password.
Enter the same password for the new pass-
word and the retyped password.
Enter the new password that is not regis-
tered.
Enter all of the items.
Your password cannot be deleted. Pass-
words can be deleted using the Password
command from the NV-Designer.
Your security level cannot be changed.
Passwords can be changed using the Pass-
word menu command from the NV-
Designer.
