Remove Background

This mode enables you to scan by erasing the background colour of the original. This mode is
especially useful for scanning originals, such as catalogues and paper, that have turned yellow
from age.
NOTE
This mode is available only if the Color Universal Send Kit (standard-equipped for the iR C4580i/iR
C4080i) is activated.

Image Quality Adjustment
Place your originals and specify the destination ➞ press the Scan
Settings drop-down list ➞ [Option] ➞ [Special Features] ➞ [Image
Qual. Adjustment].
For more information on specifying the destination, see Chapter 2, "Basic Sending Methods."
Press [Remove Background] ➞ [OK].
If the background colour remains, or if you want to make the background colour darker when
the original is scanned in the Remove Background mode, make fine adjustments to the density
of the background colour.
If you want to make fine adjustments to the density of the background colour, press [Fine
Adjustment] ➞ press [-] or [+] to specify the amount of each colour that you want to adjust ➞
press [OK].
For example, if the background colour (yellow) of the original remains, press [-] next to <Yellow>
to adjust the density.
Adjusting Yellow automatically adjusts the levels of Red and Green to the same level as Yellow.
However, adjusting the levels of Red or Green sets Yellow back to its default level.
NOTE
• You can adjust the density of each colour by pressing [-] or [+]. Press [-] to make the colour
lighter, or press [+] to make the colour darker.
• If you make fine adjustments to the density, the automatic scan exposure setting is cancelled,
and the original is scanned according to the Fine Adjustment settings.
