WAN configuration example
PPP VoIP configuration
The following figure illustrates a common PPP VoIP configuration between two sites connected over a
WAN:

Site A contains four IP phones and a G350 with S8300 and one MM342 media module. The MM342
media module connects the G350 to the WAN via a USP 128Kbps V.35 interface. Following are the
connection details for Site A:

The IP phones are configured with the following DSCP tagging:
— Voice = DSCP 46
— Voice control = DSCP 34
NOTE:
The policy list in the next configuration is based on the assumption that the Media
Gateway, Media Server, and the IP phones send VoIP control packets with a DSCP value
of 34 and voice with a DSCP value of 46. If any of the components of the topology are
sending control or voice packets with other DSCP values, you must make changes in the
policy list.

The default RTP UDP port range is 2048 to 3028.
