Playback in variable mode
Note
In shuttle mode, the maximum playback speed can be set between 8 and 500
times normal speed in MAV-777 Expansion menu item 106: MAXIMUM
SHUTTLE SPEED.
Use the following procedure for playback in variable mode.

Press the VAR button to turn it on.
Immediately after turning on the system, turn the search dial to its central
position.
Each time you push the search dial it toggles between jog and variable
modes. According to the currently selected mode, the JOG or VAR button
lights.

Turn the search dial to the position for the desired playback speed and
direction.
A playback image appears, at the speed corresponding to the position of
the search dial.
The dial has notches at the still playback and -1 to +1 times normal speed
playback positions.

To end variable playback, return the search dial to the central position or
press the STOP button.
To return to normal speed playback
Press the PLAY button.
To alternate between normal speed playback and playback in variable mode
With the search dial in the position for the speed at which you want to play
back, press the PLAY and VAR buttons alternately, to switch between normal
speed playback and variable mode playback. Again, by pressing the STOP and
VAR buttons alternately, you can play back intermittently in variable mode.
