Chapter 6 Editing
Automatically setting edit points with split editing
With split editing, four video edit points (player IN and OUT, recorder IN and
OUT) and four audio edit points (player AUDIO IN and AUDIO OUT,
recorder AUDIO IN and AUDIO OUT) are normally required, for a total of
eight edit points. However, with the control panel, setting five of the eight edit
points results in the automatic calculation of the remaining three edit points. In
other words, if three of the four video edit points and two of the four audio edit
points are set, the remaining three edit points are set automatically, regardless
of whether they are on the recorder or player side.
In the diagram below, edit points already set are enclosed with boxes. The
recorder AUDIO OUT point, player AUDIO IN point, and video OUT point
are automatically set.
Edit points can be modified, even after they are automatically set.
Automatic setting of edit points with split editing
It is possible to edit material without creating Black video material or Muting
audio material.
1
With material assigned to a specified port on the player, hold down the
MODE button and press the L1 (Material) key to enter the Material mode.
If nothing is assigned, go to step 4.
2
Hold down the SHIFT key and press the B1 (Unload) key. No material is
assigned to the specified port on the player.
3
Hold down the SHIFT key and press the L2 (Edit) key or the player button
to enter the Edit mode.
4
Press the B2 (Manual TC Entry) to enter the player IN and OUT points.
