After entering Edit mode, you can abbreviate editing by previewing as you set
edit points. Abbreviated editing is only possible when the playback port of the
player device differs from the one selected as the recorder device.
There are two methods to perform abbreviated editing operations: confirming
edits with AUTO EDIT after previewing, the same as in normal editing, or
confirming edits once at the start of editing by pressing the AUTO EDIT
button. Pressing the AUTO EDIT button at the start of editing is more
efficient.

Press the PLAYER or RECORDER button and select the device that you
want to use, then cue up to the PLAYER and RECORDER IN points.

Press the PREVIEW or AUTO EDIT button.
Playback starts from the IN point.

When you reach the desired OUT point, hold down the ENTRY button and
press the OUT button. That point is set as the OUT point and the OUT
button stops flashing and lights. The PLAYER and RECORDER stop.

If you pressed AUTO EDIT in step 2, the destination material is updated at
the point where you performed step 3.
The PLAYER and RECORDER stop at the OUT point.

If you pressed PREVIEW in step 2, press the AUTO EDIT button.
Edits are made and destination material is updated.
When editing is finished, the RECORDER and PLAYER stop at the OUT
point.
Note
If you use the method of pressing the AUTO EDIT button from the beginning,
then you must set menu item 2002: Auto Edit Emulation to On or Off With
SHIFT in CP Setup mode.
