Chapter 6 Editing
This unit provides two modes of editing: PLAYER mode and RECORDER
mode.
PLAYER mode
Enter this mode by pressing the PLAYER button, causing the button to light
(the RECORDER button goes out). You can control the player device from the
control panel.
RECORDER mode
Enter this mode by pressing the RECORDER button, causing the button to
light (the PLAYER button goes out). You can control the recorder device from
the control panel.
You can specify the following ports for the devices specified in PLAYER
mode.
Available as PLAYER
Available ports
Internal hard disk
P1 and P2, R1 and R2 (only for on-the-fly editing)
Note
The BKMA-720/BKMA-730 optional boards are necessary to use ports P2 and
R2.
Editing with EXT1 and EXT2 differs from conventional editing on an internal
port in the following ways:
(1) The RECORDER preroll time is 2 seconds shorter than the setting of menu
item 001 PREROLL TIME of the MAV- 777 Basic menu.
(2) Menu item 001 PREROLL TIME of the MAV- 777 Basic menu must be
set to at least 3 seconds. Along with (1) above, the PLAYER and
RECORDER, the IN points should be set for the preroll intervals.
(3) Menu item 317 PANEL MODE RECORDER PORT of the MAV-777
Expansion menu should be set to R1P1 for EXT1 and set to R2P2 for
EXT2. This way, either can be selected as the PLAYER.
(4) The RECORDER, P1, and R1 buttons (or P2 and R2 buttons) light
together when the Recorder is selected for an edit that used EXT1 (or
EXT2).
(5) The following cannot be executed: on-the-fly editing and effects.
(6) When EXT1 (or EXT2) is selected as the subject of operation, you can
switch Standby mode on and off by holding down the SHIFT button and
pressing the STOP button.
Notes
• The Recorder IN point must be set at a point in the +1 frame at the end of the
destination material.
• EXT1 and EXT2 cannot be used as Players for editing in the Insert (INS) mode.
