PLANNING AND PREPARATION

32
To support a wireless LAN, you can install a Cisco Aironet 350
PCI 802.11b Wireless Network Interface Card.

Network Configuration

Once the service technician has finished installing the controller
and copier hardware, you can configure the controller software.
Use the copier's LCD touch screen to perform the following
administrative functions:
Enable or disable the network cards.
Set the TCP/IP addressing mode to employ DHCP services,
or manually enter the addressing information.
Enter the primary WINS server's IP addresses.
Enable or disable the IPX/SPX protocol and set the
appropriate frame type.
Enable or disable SMB.
Enable or disable the AppleTalk protocol and enter an
AppleTalk name and zone.
Enable wireless networking.
Set the device Name and workgroup.
Note: Many of these settings can also be made from a remote
workstation using TopAccess. In addition to system
configuration, TopAccess provides job monitoring and
system management functions.
Depending on how you intend to use your GL-1020
controller, you may need to perform specific administrative
functions before establishing print services. For example, you
may have to set up Novell printer and server objects.

Client Software Installation

At this point in the installation process, your controller and copier
are fully functional. However, you cannot print to the copier from
workstations connected to the network until you have installed
the drivers (Unix filters or Macintosh PPD file) on the client
machines.
