NETWORK PRINTER MODE

132

Considerations and Limitations

The GL-1020 controller can function as either a NetWare
Network Printer or a Print Server, but not both concurrently.
Decide the preferred mode prior to setup. Consider the following
issues before making your choice:
In an IP-only network environment, the GL-1020 cannot
function as a Network Printer. It can function as a Novell
NDPS Printer Agent if NDPS services have been configured
and the TOSHIBA NDPS Gateway has been installed. IPX/
SPX is required to configure the GL-1020 as a Network
Printer
As a Network Printer, the GL-1020 can support multiple print
queues.
Running the GL-1020 as a Network Printer is not as fast or
efficient as running it in Print Server mode.

Prerequisites

Use the NetWare management utility PCONSOLE (for NetWare
4.x bindery mode) or NWAdmin (NetWare 4.x, 5.x or 6.x NDS
mode) to perform the following steps before enabling Novell
print services from the copier control panel or TopAccess.
For more information, refer to your Novell NetWare
documentation.

Create a new Print Server (PSERVER) on the Novell file
