Installing IDE HDDs
Before installing a Master or Slave HDD, be sure to set the drive's jumper settings
according to its function on the interface and the information provided in the following
table:
Master
1st drive
1 Remove the front and side panels. For instructions, see
server panels
2 Disconnect the power and signal cables from the back of the hard disk and floppy
disk drives.
3 Remove the two screws securing the drive carrier.
4 Press the latches on the sides of the drive carrier, then slide the carrier out of the
server chassis.
CAUTION: When removing the drive carrier, be careful not to tangle system cables
or touch any installed memory modules.

5 Remove the 3.5-inch shield cover from the drive carrier and store it for possible
reuse.
