A3.1.8
Heater Control
The heater temperature is controlled based on the 8-bit digital data obtained by performing
serial communication with the high-voltage power supply unit taking into account the system
status, paper size, paper source, and setting menu.
This system drives the drum motor and resist motor to feed paper before the fusing tempera-
ture is reached, thus starting printing as soon as possible after call termination.
If fusing is started immediately after the fusing temperature is reached, paper is liable to be
wrinkled because of an overshoot.
To prevent this, fusing on the first sheet is started at a temperature lower than the normal
fusing temperature.
If an attempt is made to turn on/off the heater at an AD conversion value to maintain the
temperature at a certain level, the heater may be turned on and off repeatedly due to AD
conversion accuracy or noise, overloading the halogen lamp. To prevent this, the temperature
at which the heater is turned on is separated far from the temperature at which the heater is
turned off.
