Troubleshooting at Failure

Confirm the description in this section when a failure occurs. When a relevant failure is found,
follow the description to deal with it properly.
Identifying the Failure
When a failure occurs, use NEC ESMPRO Manager to identify the failure area and to judge if the
failure is caused by hardware or by software.
When the failure point is found and the cause is confirmed, replace the failure parts or recover
the system.
It is convenient to use NEC ESMPRO Manager to judge if the failure is caused by hardware or
software.
Error Messages
Error messages are notified when a failure occurs on the server. This section describes the error
message types.
Error Message during POST
If a failure is detected at POST, self-diagnostic function, which runs automatically at powering on
the server, an error message appears on the screen of display device (In some cases,
troubleshooting for the failure may be displayed). Refer to "POST(Power On Self-Test)" in
"Basic Operation" of "Hardware" for the displayed messages, contents and troubleshooting.
Error Message by LED
The LEDs on the front/rear of the server and near the handles of the hard disk drives notify the
users of various status of the server by turning on, blinking or turning off, with patterns or colors.
When a failure occurs, check the LED indication. Refer to "LED Description" in "Name of Each
Part" of "Hardware" for the LED indication and the meanings.
