    Using the Capacity Optimization (COPT) feature, the server is shipped with only the CPU cores required for system enabled. If the CPU resources become insufficient, the CPU cores in CPU socket can be enabled by purchasing 1-Core Enable Key separately.     2. Before Using COPT-supported model This section describes preparatory configuration before using the server. Assigning and Adding Core You need to specify and confirm Core Assign mode and Core Configuration Mode from web console. Login the web console of target server. Click the [Capacity] tab.

After a while, a message "Backup/restore completed" appears on web console screen, and at the same time, a dialog asking you to open or save file appears. Click the [Save] button to save the file with desired file name in desired folder.

Obtaining Code Word You will receive "1-Core Enable key (not factory-installed)" together with "Code Word Request Form" on which Code Word Issue Key is described. Login web console of the target server.

    Applying Code Word You can apply code word either when the target server is powered on or off. Login web console of the target server. Click the [Capacity] tab. ② ③ Write down the number of licenses shown in License Count field, and click the [Code Word Setting] button.

    Confirming Enabled Core If you applied code word while the server is powered off regardless of setting in Core Configuration Mode described in "2.1 Assigning and Adding Core", power off the server and confirm that the number of enabled core is surely added. You can confirm the number of enabled and disabled CPU cores on web console screen after the server is powered on and OS has started.

    Confirm the number of cores displayed in [Cores] field is equal to the number of enabled cores. If Hyper-Threading is enabled, confirm that the number of logical processors detected by OS is twice the number of enabled cores after they are enabled. If Hyper-Threading is disabled, confirm that the number of logical processors detected by OS is equal to the number of enabled cores after they are enabled.

    4. Troubleshooting This section describes how to cope with trouble. When an error message is displayed while installing code word The code word was not entered correctly, or applied to inappropriate server. For details, see error messages related to Capacity by selecting [Help] → [Messages] → [Capacity] at upper right corner of web console.

    5. Notes This section describes notes on using COPT-supported model. Notes on OS that does not support Dynamic COPT If Dynamic is specified for Core Configuration Mode (see 2.1 Assigning and Adding Core) and you enter the code word (to add CPU core) while the OS is running, the Dynamic COPT feature works and incorporates enabled core in OS.
