Write-Protect or Write-Enable a Cartridge
Locate the write-protect switch beside the cartridge door.

Move the write-protect switch to the desired setting.

Locked–(lock image shown closed) Write-protected.
The switch is to the right (toward the cartridge door) when the cartridge is
positioned with the hub down and the label edge away from you.
The tape drive can read data from the data cartridge. Write

Unlocked–(lock image shown open) Write-enabled (unprotected).
The switch is to the left (away from the cartridge door). The tape drive can read
data from or write data to the data cartridge.
