Replacing a RAID controller

When instructed to do so by the ServeRAID Manager program, replace a RAID
controller that has failed.

1. The replacement RAID controller does not come with a cache battery or cache

e. Insert the DIMM into the connector by aligning the edges of the DIMM with
the slots at the ends of the DIMM connector. Firmly press the DIMM into
the connector by applying pressure on both ends of the DIMM
simultaneously. The retaining clips snap into the locked position when the
DIMM is firmly seated in the connector. If there is a gap between the DIMM
and the retaining clips, the DIMM has not been correctly inserted; open the
retaining clips, remove the DIMM, and then reinsert it.
a. Make sure that the lever on each side of the controller is down as far as it
will go.
b. Push the controller into the bay until it meets resistance (approximately 6
mm [0.25 in.] from the end of the chassis).
c. While squeezing together the latch and lever, push both latches up as far
as they will go. The controller will slide the rest of the way into the bay.

a. Open a Telnet session and connect to the alternate controller management
port IP address. If the Telnet session is open from step 5a on page 70, go

Information about the controller is displayed on the screen. If the
information shows that the peer controller status is Not Ready, repeat this
step until the status is Ready.
