10. Connect the power-supply cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
11. Turn on the power supply.

Adding a power supply (DS300 model 1701-1RL only)

To install an additional power supply, complete the following steps:

b. Push the power supply into the bay until it meets resistance (approximately
6 mm [0.25 in.] from the end of the chassis).
c. While squeezing together the latch and lever, push both latches up as far
as they will go. The power supply will slide the rest of the way into the bay.
7. Connect the power cord to the power supply.
8. Untwist the power cord strain-relief plastic tie (located below and to the right of
the ac power switch).
9. Wrap the strain-relief tie around the power cord approximately 10 cm (4 in.)
from the ac power connector end; then, twist the tie.
Note: The fault (amber) LED is lit on the new power supply because its power
switch is turned off.
After you turn on the power, the fault (amber) LED is off and the power OK
(green) LEDs are lit.
1. Read the safety information beginning on page iii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 57.
2. Remove the power-supply filler panel from the storage subsystem:
a. While squeezing together the latch and lever that are on each side of the
filler panel, press down on the orange area on each latch. The
power-supply filler panel will slide out of the bay a short distance.
b. Grasp both latches and pull the filler panel out of the bay.
c. Store the power-supply filler panel for future use.
Attention:
When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to
avoid damage from static electricity. For details about handling static-sensitive
devices, see "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 57.
3. Unpack the new power supply.
Set the unit on a dry, level surface. Save the packing material and
documentation in case you have to return the unit.
4. Review all documentation that comes with the new power supply for updated
replacement procedures and other information.
5. Make sure that the power switch on the new power supply is turned off.
6. Install the new power supply in the storage subsystem:
a. Make sure that the lever on each side of the power supply is down as far
as it will go.
b. Push the power supply into the bay until it meets resistance (approximately
6 mm [0.25 in.] from the end of the chassis).
c. While squeezing together the latch and lever, push both latches up as far
as they will go. The power supply will slide the rest of the way into the bay.
7. Remove the bezel (see "Installing and removing the bezel on the DS300 model
1701-1RL storage subsystem" on page 59).
8. Grasp the handle on the EMI panel and pull it out and away from the 7-disk
drive bay. Store the EMI panel for future use.
9. Install the seven hard disk drive filler panels in the drive bays.
