4. For storage subsystems with two controllers installed: Move the I/O data
to the alternate controller:
a. Open a Telnet session and connect to the alternate controller management
port IP address.
b. At the command prompt, enter admin.
c. Enter the administrator password.
d. Enter controller peer disable.
The controller that you are removing will shut down and all I/O data will
have moved to the alternate controller.
5. Remove the Ethernet cables from the RAID controller.
6. For a Fibre Channel RAID controller only: Remove the fiber-optic cables
and the SFP modules from the RAID controller. For more information, see
"Removing a fiber-optic cable" on page 42 and "Removing an SFP module" on
page 39.
Attention:
When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to
avoid damage from static electricity. For details about handling static-sensitive
devices, see "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 57.
7. Remove the RAID controller that contains the battery that you want to replace:
a. While squeezing together the latch and lever that are on each side of the
controller, press down on the orange area on each latch. The controller will
slide out of the bay a short distance.

b. Grasp both latches and pull the controller out of the bay.
c. Place the controller on a dry, level surface.
8. Remove the battery:
a. Use a blunt object to press the side of the battery in the direction of the
battery socket spring. The battery pops up when released.
b. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket.
