Replacing the round lithium battery in the RAID controller

When replacing the round lithium battery, you must replace it with a lithium battery
of the same type.
To order replacement batteries, call 1-800-426-7378 within the United States, and
1-800-465-7999 or 1-800-465-6666 within Canada. Outside the U.S. and Canada,
call your IBM reseller or IBM marketing representative.
Statement 2:
CAUTION:
When replacing the lithium battery, use only IBM Part Number 46H4132 or an
equivalent type battery. If your system has a module containing a lithium
battery, replace it only with the same module type. The battery contains
lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of.
Do not:
v Throw or immerse into water
v Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
v Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Attention:
prevent data loss, you must shut down the system before you replace the battery.
For the correct shutdown sequence, see "Turning off the storage subsystem" on
page 52.

Make sure that the drive-activity LEDs are lit and the drive-fault LEDs are off.
Note: The drive-fault LEDs might flash intermittently while the drives spin up.
v If the drive-activity LED is off, the drive might not be installed correctly.
Remove the drive, wait 30 seconds, and then reinstall it.
v If the drive-fault LED stays lit or the drive-activity LED stays off, the new
drive might be faulty. See the ServeRAID Manager program for problem
determination.

For storage subsystems with only one controller installed: To
1. Read the safety information beginning on page iii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 57.
2. Label each cable that is connected to the RAID controller so that you can
correctly reconnect it to the RAID controller after you replace the battery.
3. For storage subsystems with only one controller installed: Stop the host
I/O data to the storage subsystem; then, turn off the power-supply switches on
the rear of the storage subsystem.
