Chapter 7. Cabling the DS400 storage subsystem

This chapter provides Fibre Channel storage subsystem cabling information.
For the initial startup of the storage subsystem after you connect the cables, see
"Turning on the storage subsystem" on page 51.

Fibre Channel cabling

Use the information in the following sections to connect the storage subsystem to
Fibre Channel devices.

Working with SFP modules

The storage subsystem host connectors require small form-factor pluggable (SFP)
modules. SFP modules are laser products that are used to convert electrical signals
to optical signals that are required for Fibre Channel transmission to and from RAID
controllers. The storage subsystem supports two types of SFP modules: one with a
plastic tab and one with a wire tab. After you install the SFP modules, you will use
fiber-optic cables to connect the storage subsystem to other Fibre Channel devices.
Handling an SFP module
Before installing an SFP module, read the following information:
v The SFP module housing has an integral guide key that is designed to prevent
