Using a Contact Wand Scanner
To use a contact wand scanner, do the following:
1. Turn the system on.
2. Lightly touch the bar code with the tip of the wand, holding it at a 0- to 45-
degree angle above or below the line of the bar code (see Figure 3-5). The
best angle depends on the bar code.
3. Draw the scanner smoothly and at a moderate speed from right to left or from
left to right across the entire bar code.
When the bar code is successfully decoded, the code is displayed on the screen.
Depending on the program, a tone indicates a successful scan.
