Lithium Backup Batteries
The Series 3300 use two CR1/3N cylindrical lithium batteries (product number
3027-160) as backup power. The backup batteries provide enough power to
maintain the contents of memory (RAM, including the RAM disk) for
approximately 300 to 400 hours.
Depending on the system configuration, the "Dead lithium" message may display
when the backup battery power is low.
Replacing Backup Batteries
It is recommended that you upload any data in memory to the host computer
before replacing the backup batteries.
To retain programs and data in RAM while replacing the backup batteries, it is
necessary to have main power applied. If the 3300 has the standard end cap (non-
optical), you can plug in the 12 volt adapter to provide power. Otherwise, it is
necessary to have charged main batteries in place.
Caution
When both main and backup power are removed at the same time, RAM
contents are lost.
To replace the lithium batteries, do the following:

hazardous environments.
1. Unload any data, using methods provided by the application program.
2. Turn the system off.
3. Remove the primary battery pack, as described earlier in this chapter.
