Forcing Power Off

If the 3300 hangs, simply pressing the On/Off will not power it off. In this case,
the system can be forced to power off in order to reduce the drain on the batteries
until the data can be downloaded to the host system.
To force the system to power off, press and hold the On/Off key for 15 seconds.
Since the 3300 is still hung at this time, turning the power back on will not solve
the problem. To recover the data held in memory, you must perform a Warm Boot
(refer to the next section).

Restarting After A Forced Power Off

If an operator is forced to power down the 3300 because of defective software,
the System Administrator should restart the system following the warm or cold
boot procedures given below.
Note
Do not simply use the power key to restart if the 3300 was forced off due to
defective system or application program software in NVM; pressing On/Off will
only cause the program to resume where it left off, trying to perform the same
unsuccessful operation.
If the failure is due to an application program, use the warm boot procedure. If
this does not restart the system, follow the cold start procedure.
If the failure is due to system software in NVM, you will need to load a corrected
version of the program. Refer to Chapter 2 for loading instructions.
