Cradles

A cradle is a communications device and battery charger combined. Cradles are
available with one or four slots.
When in a cradle, the terminal can communicate with the host computer over
serial or modem communication line. At the same time, the NiCad battery pack is
recharged. This simplifies many routine administrative tasks by eliminating the
need to connect cables to the terminal.
Communications between the terminal and the cradle are conducted via optical
signals. The terminal must have the optical interface installed, which includes a
special, non-removable end cap (optical end cap).
